Exploring the interaction kinetics of butene isomers and NOx at low temperatures and diluted conditions

The oxidation of 1-butene and i-butene with without addition 1000 ppm NO was experimentally numerically studied primarily at fuel-rich (ϕ = 2.0) conditions under high dilution (96% Ar) in a flow reactor operated atmospheric pressure the low temperature range approximately 600-1200 K. Numerous intermediate species were detected quantified using synchrotron vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectrometry (SVUV-PIMS). An elementary-step reaction mechanism consisting 3996 reactions among 682 species, based on literature this work, established to describe interaction kinetics butene isomers oxygen nitrogenous components. Model predictions compared experimental results gain insight into low- high-temperature fuel consumption thus respective chemistry. This investigation firstly contributes consistent set temperature-dependent concentration profiles for these two relevant engine exhaust gases. Secondly, observed is significantly altered NO. Specifically, promotes introduces low-temperature behavior featuring negative coefficient (NTC) region. present model shows reasonable agreement major products it capable explain promoting effect that initiated by its contribution radical pool. Further, can NTC region i-butene/NO mixture as result competition chain propagation terminating identified sensitivity analyses.
